O-Generator Products

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

CPERFORMANCE: NOT PLAYING IN TIME:

If Generator sounds like it is not playing in time:

  1. Hardware Acceleration: XP and Windows 2000: Look at the instructions for changing the hardware acceleration on the website. This needs to be adjusted on each computer.
  2. Turn off all other programmes while O-Generator is in use: Any application running at the same time will affect the performance of O-Generator so make sure they are all switched off.
  3. Network: Don’t run O-Generator across a network. It needs to be localised to a machine.

CRECORDING:

WAV/AIFF: The record function changes the O-Generator file into a Wav/AIFF file. This can be exported into any other sequencer device.

Highlighted bars: When recording make sure all the O-Generator bars you wish to record are switched on (highlighted). Even if there is nothing in that bar, it will record the silence.

Saving: Students can all save into their own folder.

CADDING LAYERS:

You can add tracks by going back to O-Generator and recording another track. Make sure you make a note of the tempo from the original recording. It needs to be recorded at exactly the same tempo. Record and use import function Audacity or just drag the O-Generator WAV file into Audacity, or whatever sequencer you are using. . You can layer lots of different instruments.

Recommendation: When using Audacity create the whole backing track in O-Generator. Practice singing your parts while the tune is in O-Gen. Once you are happy with this export it into Audacity and add in any extra parts in, such as vocals or guitar.

Create new track in Audacity: You do this by going to PROJECT: Add new audio track. Then you can record new parts onto of the O-Gen backing track. Each time you press record, it will automatically create a new track.

CGARAGEBAND:

Garageband: Sample Rate Issue: O-Generator records at a sample rate of 22.050. For Garageband it needs samples at a 44.100 sample rate. You therefore need to change the O-Generator sample to 44.100 before exporting to Garageband.

CUSING YOUR BACKING TRACK IN GARAGEBAND (SEQUENCER) OR AUDACITY :

All you need to do is drag in the audio file. Make sure once you are in the sequencer you set the tempo at the same rate as O-Generator.
