RECORDING:

One of the key advantages of being able to convert your O-Generator composition into an AIFF (.wav) files is the creative freedom this enables for students. They are now able to build more complex tune structures in other applications giving even greater expressive creativity.

 

CHOW2 BURN A CD USING O-GENERATOR

You are about to find out how easy it really is to burn a CD of your music.

Firstly you need to compose your song. Or select the song you want to record from your saved tunes and open it in O-Generator – make sure you are happy with it before you record it:

Step 1. Select ‘Record Tune' on the O-Generator Screen.

Step 2. Type in the name of your tune and select the location to which you wish to save it.

Step 3. Select ‘Save'. NB: The more bars of music you have in your composition the longer it will take to record.

Step 4. Your tune is now saved in AIFF (.wav file) format. – it is no longer in ‘O-Generator' format.


Next up is actually putting your new composition on a CD:

Step 1. Locate your recorded music file.

Step 2. Select your CD burner software – iTunes works great but there are many different programs out there.

Step 3. Drag your file into the area indicated to burn to CD, and then click record.

Step 4. You now have the songs on CD and can enjoy listening to it whenever you want to!

 

 


CHOW2 USE O-GENERATOR TO CREATE YOUR OWN RHYTHMIC LOOP

AND PUT IN TO OTHER SEQUENCER APPLICATIONS

This allows students to put their own vocals and ‘live’ instruments to their O-Generator backing track.

This is as easy as recording your tune using the ‘Record Tune' function and then opening it up in another application. Once you have written a song you are happy with simply follow the steps that follow:

Step 1. Select ‘Record Tune' on the O-Generator Screen.

Step 2. Type in the name of your tune and select the location to which you wish to save it.

Step 3. Select ‘Save'. NB: The more bars of music you have in your composition the longer it will take to record.

Step 4. Your tune is now saved in AIFF (.wav file) format. – it is no longer in ‘O-Generator' format.

Step 5. In order to use it in other applications such as Audacity and GarageBand (which are sequencer type application) simply drag your O-Generator AIFF (wav.file) into your chosen application. You will see it as an audio (wav pattern)

Step 6. Add you vocals, guitar, flute, etc. You will need a microphone. Simply open a new track in your chosen application. Audacity (select Project – New Audio Track). Press Record and you are away! GarageBand: (select Track – New Track – Real Instrument). Press Record.

In order to use O-Generator compositions in other applications such as Audacity and GarageBand (which are sequencer type applications) simply record your tune, go into your chosen application and open your AIFF (.wav file) in the new application. You can drag then drop the file into the application or use the audio import in the chosen application.

 

RECORDING IDEAS:

 

CRECORD MULTIPLE O-GENERATOR TRACKS:

You can layer O-Generator tracks in Audacity or GarageBand (whichever application you chose).

This allows you to use more instruments from the O-Generator Instruments menu. If you have created a backing track and put it in your chosen application, you can add to it by going back to O-Generator and recording another piece of music. It is essential you record at the same tempo. Then import it into the Audacity or GarageBand.

 

CRECORDING MUSIC FOR POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS

In order to use O-Generator compositions in Powerpoint simply record your tune, go into Powerpoint and open your AIFF (.wav file).
