SOUTH MANCHESTER CLC
How South Manchester CLC use O-Generator
Students enjoy a six week stint using O-Generator music software, giving
the user a chance to compose and produce a piece of their own music mastered
to a CD. In time, they produce enough work which results in their own
class album of songs.
Projects such as these
are of great importance when trying to get students to engage more
creatively. Often primary and secondary schools are unable to run
such projects due to their lack of facilities, so it is a huge benefit
that they can come to use the technology at the CLC.
This particular
project is delivered over a six week period using O-Generator software.
During this period the children work with O-Generator, taking direct
instructions from the software and implementing the skills they learn
in the production of their own music.
The CLC has contributed
enormously in raising pupil attainment through this project. We are
profoundly proud with the outcomes of these programmes as music production
is a specialist area.
At the beginning of each
programme the children can often seem a little nervous at producing
their own music even though it is explained to them that no previous
music experience is required. So to finish the programme with all
children having learned some essential skills in music production
- and armed with a finished album between the class to show the fruits
of their labours - is very pleasing to us as a CLC.
